Highlands varsity volleyball team beats BREC on the road

Highlands varsity volleyball team travelled to Cashiers last month and swept Blue Ridge Early College with a final of 3-0.

Highlands Coach Desiray Schmitt said Highlands hit the court ready to play.

“There is just a lot of pressure going into a game with them being in our conference and a rival,” said Schmitt. “Everyone played hard, they wanted it, and it showed. I think our season is going really well and hopefully we keep winning!”

BREC Coach Ashley Steinel said the Lady Bobcats missed some opportunities on serves to convert and had some trouble with tip coverage, but they’re making adjustments and working as team.

“I feel that we could have played better, but at that moment I feel they gave it all they had,” said Steinel. “That’s all I can ask of them is to just work. We have some things to improve on and I am sure the girls will put in the work they need to.”
