Highlands Playhouse serves up second course of Foodie Film Series

Highlands Playhouse is serving up four courses of comedy, travel, food, and wine this November for the annual Foodie Film Series.

Enjoy the hilarious duo, Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan, as they eat their way across the globe in four brilliant films.

The Trip collection makes up the Foodie Film Series at the Highlands Playhouse. Next film on the menu is The Trip to Italy.

In the second installation of the Foodie Film Series, watch Rob and Steve as they travel from Piedmont to Capri in The Trip to Italy, following in the footsteps of the great Romantic poets in the early 19th century.

Showtimes for The Trip to Italy are at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Nov. 11-13.

Kicking off the 2021 Foodie Film Series was The Trip, the original film in this delicious collection. When Steve is commissioned by the food supplement of a Sunday newspaper to review half a dozen restaurants, he decides to mix work with pleasure and plans a trip around the North of England with his food loving American girlfriend.

But when his girlfriend decides to leave him and return to the States, Steve is faced with a week of meals for one, not quite the trip he had in mind.

Reluctantly, he calls Rob, the only person he can think of who will be available. Rob, never one to turn down a free lunch (let alone six) agrees, and together they set off for a culinary adventure.

The third film of the series follows our guides who are commissioned to review another restaurant tour in The Trip to Spain.

Screen times for The Trip to Spain are 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Nov. 19-21.

The final film in the Foodie Film series is The Trip to Greece, where Rob and Steve conduct a restaurant tour that follows the path of the Odyssey.

Showtimes for The Trip to Greece are 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Nov. 26-28.

Scott Daniel, Executive Artistic Director of the Playhouse said each film is funnier than the last and audiences will be entertained while exploring some of the best dishes in the world.

“I believe The Trip collection is the perfect balance of exploration, education and entertainment, both the cuisine and the comedy are divine,” said Daniel. “Food and laughter are what brings people together, and these films are going to do exactly that.”
