Cashiers gets into the Christmas spirit at annual tree lighting

Hundreds gathered for Christmas on the Green last week at The Village Green that included a visit from Santa, hot chocolate, singing Christmas carols, and getting into the spirit before the Cashiers Christmas Parade held Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.

The Cashiers community packed The Village Green for the annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony held on Nov. 24.

The 48th annual Cashiers Christmas Parade will be held in loving memory of Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Thomas Taulbee.

The route for the Cashiers Christmas Parade scheduled for Dec. 2 at 3 p.m.

The Grand Marshal this year will be New York Times bestselling author Mary Kay Andrews.

Her latest book, “Bright Lights, Big Christmas” inspired this year’s parade theme.

Most of the festivities were centered around the gazebo area.

The Cashiers Glenville Fire Department gave Santa and Mrs. Clause a lift to The Village Green for the count down to light up the park and visit with kids.

The Cashiers Christmas Tree is located at the crossroads and is not small.

Lights and festive decorations are strung throughout The Village Green including the sculpture across from the playground.

After the lights turned on the crowd cheered and meandered throughout the park.

The moment after the countdown was complete and The Village Green lit up with Christmas lights.
