The Highlands community filled Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park last week for the annual “Light up the Park,” Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.

Highlands Town Christmas Tree was lit up on Nov. 25 to the delight of hundreds of onlookers at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park.

Families waited for the countdown while sipping on hot chocolate and grooving to the sweet jams of Nitrograss who performed on stage.

Hundreds gathered in the dark at Founders Park listening to Nirtograss perform and awaiting the countdown to flip the switch and Light up the Park.

Santa paid a visit and when the time was right, lit up the park in magical holiday season glow.

There was a countdown and then the park turned into a magical holiday season wonderland.

Once the park was properly illuminated in Christmas cheer, the crowd sang Christmas carols and hit the ice rink.

Once the park was lit up, the crowd headed to the ice rink.

Not a bad place to chill next to the Town of Highlands Christmas Tree.

Most of the crowd hung around the park after the lights turned on and sang Christmas carols.

Founders Park was decorated on all sides with thousands of Christmas lights really illuminating the entire park.

Each year the Light up the Park event takes place at Founders Park and is sponsored by the highlands Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center.
