The annual Gobble on the Green 5K race held each Thanksgiving attracted 1,227 runners this year and organizers at The Village Green said it was a smashing success.

The start of the Gobble on the Green 5K race at The Village Green had 1,227 runners this year.
“Thanks to our dedicated volunteers and from much support from our community, we feel the race was a complete success,” said The VG’s Community Event Coordinator Shelby Batchelor. “It was so heartwarming to see all of the families and friends gathering together on Thanksgiving morning to participate in the event.
The race is held each year to raise money for The VG and Batchelor said community support is vital to continue to bring events like Gobble on the Green to Cashiers.

The race started and finished at The Village Green with hundreds of supporters cheering on racers.
“We are so thankful for the amazing support from our community, our volunteers, and our sponsors for making this event possible,” said Batchelor. “We simply could not do it without them.”

Gobble on the Green is a costume friendly race, there were turkey hats, Santas, Christmas elves, bees, flowers, and more scattered throughout the competitors.
Last year’s event had slightly over 1,000 racers.
