During the COVID-19 pandemic, the North Carolina Healthcare Association is recognizing frontline healthcare workers with Healthcare Hero awards to those who have provided exceptional service to patients, colleagues, or within their communities.
Highlands-Cashiers Hospital CEO Tom Neal was presented with the Healthcare Hero award on Oct. 28. He was nominated for this recognition not only for his outstanding care of patients at HCH, but also the residents at Eckerd Living Center during the very challenging times the COVID pandemic presented to everyone.
Neal came to Highlands towards the end of 2019, and has not only provided great leadership in his role as CEO, but has also become a leader and partner in the Highlands-Cashiers community.
Neal was part of a team of community members who came together to organize several COVID vaccine clinics for the Highlands-Cashiers area. His care for patients, staff, and the community is what earned him the title of Healthcare Hero.
